To support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures priority of the Australian Curriculum we offer Kaurna language and culture lessons facilitated by Kaurna elder, Uncle Tamaru. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures priority provides opportunities for all students to deepen their knowledge of Australia by engaging with the world’s oldest continuous living cultures. Through the Australian Curriculum, students will understand that contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are strong, resilient, rich and diverse. Uncle Tamaru provides a unique opportunity for students to learn about Kaurna connection to and responsibility for the place where our students live and learn. Uncle Tamaru explains and demonstrates that Kaurna ways of life are uniquely expressed through ways of being, knowing, thinking and doing.
